Students who will be spend time studying abroad (e.g. Erasmus/Socrates Program) have the opportunity to participate in language preparation at the Language Resource Center.
As soon as you are nominated for a university place abroad, you should find out which language skill levels are required by the university in question.
‘Preferred registration’ for a course in the summer semester 2019 proceeds as follows:
The first step is to register for the module and the corresponding course in TUCaN (as of Wednesday, 10th April at midnight) and then contact our office by Monday, 15th April 6 p.m. so that we can prioritize your registration. When doing so, please indicate in which country you will be attending university and whether you have already taken a placement test or a language course or neither.
There are reserved spots in language courses for Outgoings. Nevertheless, the Language Resource Center’s usual rules regarding course number/space limits also apply in such cases, which means you must be present on the first day of the course.
Information on placement tests may be found at “News & Dates/Placement Tests”
Placement tests are obligatory for the following languages: Chinese, German as a Foreign Language, English, French, Italian, Polish (not in UNIcert), Portuguese, Russian (not in UNIcert), Swedish, Spanish and Turkish (not in UNIcert).
Students who have already taken part in a language course in their desired language, students who wish to stay at the same UNIcert level and beginners do not have to take a placement test. No placement test is required for beginner level courses.
There is a different registration period for Spanish beginner courses (Spanish I/II). Please check the information under ‘News & Dates/Registration Spanish I/II’. Registration is only valid upon payment of the course fee (90€).
