The Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL®) offers colleges and universities the opportunity to administer a convenient, affordable and reliable assessment of English language skills. TOEFL itp® tests are paper-based and use academic and social content to evaluate the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers in a real-world academic setting. The test evaluates skills in three areas: listening comprehension, reading comprehension and selected structural and grammatical points in standard written English.
Please note: The TOEFL itp® is NOT the same as the much more comprehensive and internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language, TOEFL iBT (testing four skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing) which serves as an admission requirement for studies at numerous universities in English-speaking countries, especially the USA.
The TOEFL itp® Level 1 test (intermediate to advanced) is a paper-and-pencil test which includes 3 sections: Listening Comprehension (50 multiple choice questions in 35 min), Structure and Written Expression (40 multiple choice questions in 25 min), and Reading Comprehension (50 multiple choice questions in 55 min). The test duration is 115 min.
The TOEFL itp® only assesses the receptive language skills, i.e. listening and reading as well as your knowledge of specific grammar skills; there is no evaluation of speaking and writing skills.
