To ensure that you are placed in the correct level of language class, you are required to first write a placement test.
Placement tests are offered in the following languages:
- Arabic*
- Chinese
- German as a Foreign Language
- English
- French
- Italian
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Swedish
- Spanish

If you have previous knowledge of the language but register and try to participate in a beginner’s course, you will most probably be removed from the course – possibly even a few weeks after the course starts.
* The placement test in Arabic does not take place on Moodle but on ZOOM. Dates tba.
Placement Tests in Summer Semester 2025
Placement tests can be taken electronically on the Moodle platform.
The tests will be activated: from Tuesday, 1st April 2025, 0:00 until Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, 12:00.
Important: The tests will be deactivated at noon. Please start your test in time.
Should you have any problems with Moodle please send an email to e-test@spz.tu-…. For other questions please contact the Office for Student Affairs.
Please note that you can take the placement test only once per semester. Your placement test of the previous semester is still valid.
You only have to take a placement test if you have not previously attended a language course at the Language Resource Center in the required language or if you wish to attend a language course on the next UNIcert level.
Beginner courses do not require any placement test.
You are only allowed to register for courses corresponding to the score you achieved in the placement test.
