Panel discussion

„Multilingualism isn’t a formula, but a living model”

For our Panel Discussion on Multilingualism we have been able to engage representatives from various fields. Taking part in the discussion are:

Prof. Dr. Jens Schneider

I lead the institute for Statics and Construction in the department of Construction and Environmental Engineering at TU Darmstadt. In addition I have held the office of vice-president for Transfer and International Affairs since 2019.

Prof. Dr. Iryna Gurevych

I am a Full Professor (W3) at the Computer Science Department of Technical University Darmstadt, Germany, and Head of the UKP Lab. I have a strong background in information extraction, semantic text processing, machine learning and innovative applications of NLP to social sciences and humanities.

Dr. Robert Rost

I am the technical director (CTO) and member of the board of management of a successful international and publicly-traded company based in high-tech. I carry the responsibility for the areas Digital Transformation, Value Stream (Production and Purchasing), Research and Development as well as Quality Assurance.

Nicoleta Zlota

I am a university teacher for French at the Language Centre of Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg (JMU). At the 30th AKS Conference in Weimar in 2018, I received the AKS Prize for “Gute Sprachlehre an Hochschulen – Good Teaching of Languages at Universities” in the category “Förderung von Handlungsorientierung und Praxisbezug – Promoting activity-based tasks and practical relevance”.

Kate Friedrich

I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Philosophy. Additionally I work as a student-assistant at the Language Resource Centre of the Technical University of Darmstadt. There, in addition to other tasks, I mainly tutor curses in German as a technical language for mathematics.
