How will ChatGPT change language instruction as we know it?
It’s hard avoiding the name ChatGPT at the moment: you hear about it in class and on the 8pm news and may likely read about it when surfing the internet, etc. In various ways you become aware of its presence; however, what ChatGPT means for us as language teachers may not be automatically clear. In our workshop we will begin with a brief discussion of the technical side of ChatGPT. From there, we will consider how ChatGPT can make our tasks easier. Finally, we will look at how we can benefit from ChatGPT in the classroom and what needs to be considered when creating tasks in the future.
